Digital Watercolours: Bird

All done in photoshop. I tried my best to try and get it to look as much like watercolours as possible. Why? Because I don't have money to buy paint or paper. Today I really wanted to make watercolour art. All my watercolours are so dried up I can't even open the tube. I can't even cut it open so photoshop it was. Artrage is awesome and all but I don't like the blenders. I've yet to master it. I overly abused the Sharpen filter and textures. My main layer blend modes were Colour Burn and Multiply. I'm happy with the overall results.

I've been playing with digital watercolours a lot lately. In between requests and art trades I do this sort of thing as a warm up exercise so I don't forget what I am trying to learn. I used Photoshop CS6 and a Huion 580 tablet. It took me almost a whole day to set up my huion properly. There's something wrong with my intuos and I might need to send it off for repairs but I am thankful to have a back up at least.

Toon Boom Harmony Gradient Tool

In Toon Boom Harmony, how do you edit gradients? The second icon on the tool bar if you click and hold, the last tool option is the edit gradient tool. To enable a gradient, you need to first create or edit a swatch and click Gradient to enable it and then choose if you want linear or elliptical. The above video, though fast, shows this. Please do use the option to slow down the video if it's too fast. The edit gradient tool is really great and works best on vector layers. It has resize, rotate and skew and is also very easy to move about. As far as I know, even the gradient can be animated but I have not tried to do so since I don't often use gradients in my animations other than for a colour overlay effect over the entire animation. I, like many others, looked for this tool with the painting options and became quite frustrated. Digital Painting

Pros: No waiting for things to dry No cleaning up. No mess. Exact colours and any colour always available. My pet peeve in traditional art was running out of black or white. No worry about too big or too small. Easy to resize canvas. Print out Take as long as needed without worrying about damaging what you're working. I mean this in the way that over painting paper can damage the paper. Quicker Relaxing to do on a laptop in a comfy chair or in bed Tablet is portable Me personally I can draw emotions better, my art is more alive but other artists are the opposite. Relaxing to draw in paint tool sai and enjoy many hours of drawing with full freedom. There's less restrictions than in traditional. No need to buy more supplies, it's a one time cost for the drawing program and tablet if you take good care of your tablet. Ghosty Animation Process and Timelapse

Which you will see happening in the timelapse video above. My goal was simple enough: Animate a simple ghost in no more than 15 frames at 12fps on loop. For whatever reason I couldn't get Ping Ping loop to work and a few times I tried copy, paste reversed and that was ok, but in the end I used motion path and made sure the movement was fluid enough to not need ping pong looping.
